The tradition of going to Gretna to get married over the anvil is not something I had experienced before, and the whole experience was absolutely wonderful.

We attended a family wedding and were impressed by the whole event. The blacksmiths shop contains lots of antiques from old pushbikes to suits of armour. It is very small and on a hot day is quite stifling but worth it for the anvil stunt....More

9am to 6pm June to September 9am to 5pm rest of year but I would always check their website. If there is a wedding, the room where it is being held is closed to the public.

Hello there, Many years ago, my mother and father had a "Wedding Photograph" taken over the anvil, and I was wondering if now, my wife and myself would like to do this as it is our anniversary next week, and I have bought a ring that she likes, unbeknowns to her, so I wondered if it could be "given" to my wife when we get to have the photo taken, (I'm not talking about a wedding ceremony or renewing vows or anything like that.) Just a presentation maybe with the top hat a veil if you still do this. What can you suggest? Any help would be appreciated. Alan Reynolds
