Our tour guide Hamish was really nice and kept us interested with his funny comments and stories. I think Timberbush is one of the more expensive tour companies in Scotland, but everything was really well arranged. We also had the opportunity to go up Loch Ness by boat and visited the Castle. (18.5 pounds, not included in the tourprice). It... More

When I booked this tour there was no reviews so I was a little skeptic, but at the end it was an amazing day and we had so much fun. Have to say that our tour guide/driver Donald was amazing he knew a lot about Jacobite rising and Mary Queen of Scots and other interesting stories about Scotland. Later that... More

The first tour with Timberbush was such a hit we booked another. Lindisfarne is where one of the first Vikings attacks happened. Just beautiful, great restoration. The photo ops are incredible. If you're a Harry Potter fan or Downton Abbey go to Alynwick, both had scenes filmed there. But the best part was our guide Dave W really made the... More

A few words about our guide Laura : A brilliant storyteller full of humour and very enthusiastic about her roots .Very contagious! . I loved the whole experience. The scenery was beautiful. I learnt a lot today as Laura was able to pass on a lot of her knowledge clearly and in a jolly way! I will definitely not hesitate... More

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, my previous plans were cancelled, so I decided to check out some possible tours in Scotland. Timberbush was recommended, so I booked a 3 day tour to the isle of skye. Sooo worth it. Martine, our tour guide, has been doing tours for over 20 years and the trip was amazing. She took us to... Stuart our guide made the tour magnificent: while we drove he explained about the history of Scotland and the area passing by. It was a wonderful day and the highlight of our stay in Edinburgh. Again thanks to Stuart!

Tour guide was amazing (Hamish), knew so much about the highlands. One of the most beautiful places I've ever travelled to, we saw deer and highlands cows, great for families or alone.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
