Mix in Scottish and Covenanters history, cool pubs, charming stone buildings and roads, and you have one of our favorite places to visit - Old Town Edinburgh. Our family of 7 stayed in the Safestay Hostel during Fringe and Tattoo, and it was perfect for...More

Spent 2 days in Edinburgh and absolutely loved it. The town has so much to see, we just didn't have enough time to take it all in. We plan to come back and spend more time in this town.

Great pubs. Great food. Great Craic. Special mention for Maggie Dicksons. The Haggis, Neeps n Tatties is exceptional.

Our first view of Edinburgh from our hotel and an absolute pleasure to wander about. Twinkling lights, cobbled streets. And clean! Lots of alleyways and stairwells to explore, very few high street shops... beautiful x

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

It is about 2.3 miles away in a car from the Claremont Guesthouse. Taxi is probably better.
