The interior is amazing and well worth a view. The food however is over priced, and as a noticeable tourist we were sat in a corner table behind the till when there were many other tables available. They seemed to sit all the tourists out of view. Wouldn't have been my first choice to eat but my boyfriend seemed keen.... More

If I could award a 3.5 I would. Myself and my Husband chose the Dome to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with afternoon tea in the Georgian tea room. After recommendations and reading great reviews. The staff could not do enough for you, however the food was a tad disappointing, bread on the sandwiches were stale and the scones were... More

Quite impressive buiding inside and out, though thought it was not up my street, maybe the crowd that were in there the I was there were a bit posey and clannish. Though I am sure a good night is had by many others.

I took my mum here for afternoon tea at Christmas time. It was wonderful! The Dome itself as a venue is quite spectacular however at Christmas it's something else. Our afternoon tea was lovely, the sandwiches were perfect and the mini scones were delicious! Would highly recommend

Great atmosphere, lovely decorations all over to celebrate christmas. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of prosecco (£35!) and enjoyed the ambiance immensely. Very classy and elegant place would love to have a meal there next visit to Edinburgh.

We visited the Dome twice. On 14th Jan 2017 we called in for a drink and a small bite to eat. We both had scones, they where as light as a feather and truly the best scones I have ever had. Our next visit was on the 15th for dinner, again the food was excellent. The only thing that let... More

This is a must see place to understand Scottish tradition and class! From the toilets to the Grill Room and the impressive Club Room, one can see the tasteful decoration, the impeccable behaviour of the staff, the quality of service, food and ambiance.

We had first visited The Dome two years ago, before Christmas - a wonderful experience that we decided to repeat immediately after Christmas 2016, We knew to book a table for dinner well in advance - the decorations are breathtaking, the whole interior of the Dome totally amazing, but better viewed from the relaxing viewpoint of a dining table than... Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
