Hidden beneath the Royal Mile lies Edinburgh’s deepest secret: a warren of hidden ‘closes’ where real people lived, worked and died. For centuries they have lain forgotten and abandoned…until now. Visit Edinburgh's most famous Close, which makes Edinburgh's Hidden History unmissable.

This was a great tour with fascinating historical information. If you are expecting a ghost tour, this may not be the tour for you as it is primarily historical facts. If you are interested in some of the more grim aspects of the long and...More

Interesting view of old Edinburgh. The hour long walk through the Closes gives a good historical glimpse of the terrible conditions leading up to and during the plague.

The Real Mary Kings close is absolutely fantastic, what an insight into how life was back then. The tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable. You really are immersed into 17th century life and are totally taken back through history. Excellent.

Visiting Edinburgh for the weekend we had already booked the tour in advance. We had an excellent lady as our guide ( Meg I think was her name) . Informative and interesting . Lasted about an hour so not too bad .

We enjoyed the tour of the underground neighborhoods and the people who lived in them from over 250 years ago when they were above ground.

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its

this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

i dont see it being an issue. the ground can be a little uneavan but there are lights and the guide pointed it out. the only issue might be the 38 steps down then back up again - would depend on how she feels
