Edinburgh Zoo is set in 82 acres of sloping parkland and is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. It is home to over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, including chimpanzees, sun bears, Indian Rhinos, the UK's only koalas and the first Giant Pandas in the UK for 17 years. You can experience a busy programme of educational events and activities from keeper talks to hands-on animal encounters. There is also a wide-range of eating experiences, several play areas and a fantastic gift shop.Viewing for the Giant Pandas is free but ticketed.(Included with entry fee) To avoid disappointment we are advising all visitors to pre-book their tickets through our website to guarantee viewing. Panda viewing tickets must be booked at the same time as you buy your entry ticket.

We were disappointed with the restricted visiting times to see the Giant Pandas so were unable to see the signature, star attraction. Other events were lacking on the day we went, which was unfortunate. Nevertheless, we made the most of our visit and enjoyed what we saw. The pygmy hippos were of particular interest. The children enjoyed what was on... More

Deceptively large, the zoo goes way back from the road and is very hilly which means there's amazing views up by the Zebras and the viewing point. Downside was it wasn't properly explained that if you don't book a (free) time slot with the pandas, you can't view them at all which was a shame. Also the larger cafe closes... More

If I'm honest the only reason I travelled from my home in Kent to Edinburgh Zoo was to see the giant pandas. We. Pokes our tickets and panda viewing in advance and chose the 10.00-12.00 viewing slot. We were in luck and the male (Yang Guang) was out eating bamboo in the viewing area. The female didn't join him but... More

Thoroughly enjoyable day out. Didn't realise quite how hilly it would be but that is our own fault. I probably wouldn't recommend going all the way up to tiger tracks, as there isn't much else up there and if the tiger is asleep then it's a long walk. Red panda was the star of the show and the grasslands restaurant... More

Took a visit to the zoo for the second year running. A 540 mile round trip. Was worth it to see my 2 year old daughter see the pandas again. The staff are brilliant if it's quiet they let you in to see the panda early before your booking time. We caught a glimpse this year of the male outside.... More

Fantastic zoo, well worth the price. Try to see the penguin parade at noon! (Also they provide live cams of penguins and pandas)

This is a nice zoo. It was fairly cold and windy when we went to visit. My three year old's favorite exhibit was the Koala exhibit. They also had a great play ground, and she spent about half the time we were there playing on the slide. Definitely worth a visit.

Please be aware this was a term time week day visit in April, so my review is of a very quiet zoo. I came all the way to Eninburgh to see the pandas currently residing in the zoo. For years I wanted to come, and this trip was planned around that. I'm glad I came in April and not the... More

The zoo wasn't the best I've been to. It was steep in places. We didn't get to see the giant pandas as they were inside. Not alot of animals. I was lucky to have a member card of another zoo so we got in free. It was expensive otherwise.
