We decided to go visit on the spur of the moment and had an ice cream in the cafe until the tour was due to start. For only £5, the wonderful volunteer guide, Isobel, gave a very informative hour-long tour of the castle. The castle...More

I was really looking forward to my trip to Lauriston castle - and to try out the new cafe! It has such potential to be a really traditional and 'Scottish' experience. Unfortunately is the reality is that although the decor is fine the tiny counter...More

Looked forward to trying the new cafe at Lauriston Castle. ........what a disappointment. .....shop bought tray bakes, and very dry scones. Paper cups, plastic cutlery......a poor show. Castle and grounds are great but would venture into Davidsons Mains or Cramond for a coffee/cake.

Just had a wander around the lovely grounds before having lunch in the cafe. A bit expensive for having just plastic cutlery etc and paper cups. Food was tasty and nicely presented. The male who was serving was very helpful and pleasant.

Had a lovely walk around the grounds of Lauriston Castle. The grounds are beautifully kept and the views over the river are worth the trip. Castle wasn't open when we were there but may go back another time for that.

Wandered around the large grounds - the castle was closed - and had morning tea at the cafe outside out of the wind in the courtyard.

We took a break from the festival crowds and had a thoroughly enjoyable tour emphasizing how a late Victorian/Edwardian family decorated and furnished their beautifully sited castle. Michal handled all questions with deep knowledge, humor, and aplomb.

We visited Lauriston Castle after spotting an offer with Living Social. This meant we got half price entry, only £5 for the two of us. The guide was really informative and obviously takes a pride in his work. The castle/house is basically as it was...More
