New cafe open 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday

The courtyard cafe is now open at weekends. They serve great snacks and soups. We had the carrot and coconut soup and a ham and cheese toasting. Both excellent. The soup came with... read more

The courtyard cafe is now open at weekends. They serve great snacks and soups. We had the carrot and coconut soup and a ham and cheese toasting. Both excellent. The soup came with a hot roll and there was lots of filling in the sandwich and a small side salad. Great value and excellent service. There is both indoor and... More

Having been a regular visitor to Lauriston all my life, I now visit very rarely because of the increasing number of dogs running freely and fouling, what were once safe, clean and peaceful grounds. There was a time when it was an ideal place for young families but is now fast becoming a no-go area for young children. I would... More

Well as a local resource it is really grim to see *so many dogs" running around without leads ,it used to be almost dog free ,now I observe dogs without leads on croquet lawn , children being scared by uncontrolled dogs etc etc...It used to be the case no dogs were allowed and as no one seems to be in... Great place to visit any time of the year, the lovely Japanese Garden is amazing in spring. Great sea views. Don't forget to visit Cramond village, beach and island nearby.

After web site says no need to book, we took the bus from Edinburgh centre which took 40 minutes. We arrived just after 2 only to be told it was too busy so go away. Very disappointed, this was on a Tuesday afternoon where it's also states usually not busy. What a complete waste of a journey. However the view... More

This is a hidden gem and not as high up on the 'must see' list for Edinburgh as it should be. What a fabulous place and the guided tour, hosted by Michael, was small and felt like it was a private visit. The house and furnishings, and the accompanied stories, are fascinating and just a gentle introduction to the history... More

Spent some time here this weekend. Lovely view! Space for kids to play. Japanese gardens nice to spend time in. Worth a visit just for the view!

Booked for 2pm tour on Saturday 10th. Arrived in time to park and have a quick walk around the grounds before the tour started. Really informative guide. Loved looking in all the rooms. Gorgeous collection of Blue John - the guide showed us a piece lit up from inside and it was stunning. I loved the Morning room with its... More

The gardens are lovely with beautiful views across the Firth of Forth. There is due to be a coffee shop but it was still not open on our visit. This site does need somewhere to have a cup or tea or coffee. Grounds well used by people sitting and having picnics. The Japanese gardens are a bit on the European... More
