I've been playing the bagpipes since I was 15, and have had a kilt since then. When my wife and I were in Edinburgh, I had to come here to get a custom kilt in my family's tartan. I started communicating with Liam a few weeks before our trip about the tartan I was looking for and what I wanted... More

We stopped in here after a tour of the Royal Yacht Britannia. It was an easy 10 minute walk -- alas, in the rain, but that's to be expected in Scotland. This is a wonderful store, and it has an interesting side section with a museum of kilts and tartans. If you are serious about getting the correct tartan, or... More

Although I wish I could afford a kilt from here.....they have provided the royal family with several items....we did love the museum part and the ability to watch them hand stitch kilts.

Thank you for staying open a bit longer for us to finish our purchase. My husband is looking very much forward to receiving the Kilt late September :)

If you want a Kilt, Trews, Jacket or anything else in the way of Scottish dress then this is the only place to go in Scotland. They are professional, understanding, well priced and efficient. The quality of their product is astounding and they have a depth of knowledge that can only be achieved by years and years of experience. They... More

As soon as you enter the building you can tell this place is steeped in history! Just a quick glance of the photos showing some of the clientele this company have gives you a good indication of the quality of their work. They also have a quirky miniature museum inside with a window glancing through at the workers making kilts... More

We had pulled up their website and found the Clans and Tartans which our Scottish Family belonged. Our families came from the Galloway and Aberdeen Areas of Scotland. So when we arrived at K.A., we knew what we were looking for. The shop was busy as two customers were either being fitted for a kilt or trying on the one... More

Most posh kilt shop I have eve seen. But the staff know exacty what they are doing. They have Three Royal Seals! If they don't have what you are looking for, they will make for you.

If you are going to visit the Royal Yacht Britannica and/or staying at the Holiday Inn Express-Waterfront, this is well worth a side trip. KA makes tartans and kilts for the Royal Family, so their goods are not cheap, but if you're in the market for some first-class, made-in-Scotland tartan, this is the place. Nice small exhibit of various Royals... More

As noted, KA is located in Leith, so if you're looking for something along Princes Street, you'll be disappointed. That said, if you're looking to be kitted out in Highland dress as well as can be done, and without other distractions, look no further. First, while one may take a cab (and if one can afford to shop here, one... More
