Have visited here on our annual visit to Edinburgh for the last few years and it never lets us down. Loads of choices of drinks, reasonably priced prosecco, a beautiful bar and great staff. It's a must visit in my opinion.

Had 30 minutes to burn whilst waiting for a train to visited here as it was recommended to me. Really nice atmosphere - very popular as it was visibly busy but not overly. And good selection of ale

Went there for a simple dinner - couldn't get into the restaurant upstairs. Had a Steak & Ale pie with vegetables in the bar area - it was great. Very friendly and attentive host who got the meals and follow-on drinks. Well priced. Warm and...More

Having spent the previous evening walking the moonwalk around Edinburgh we needed somewhere to eat and rest our weary bodies. The staff were incredibly accommodating, we didn't drink loads but did eat, we didn't feel rushed and felt very welcome. Beautiful interior, food, home cooked...More

Went here twice over the weekend for drinks and meals, it's busy but managed to get a table each time. Food is good and generous portions. A good choice of beer. Great Victorian pub

Avoid. The manger was rude and asked us to leave as we were a group! What made thing worse was that he then ran out in front of us and tried to get the adjoining bar also not to serve our group - how childish...More

Tucked away off Princes Street, the Guildford has a brilliant range of real ales, many rare to area, always in excellent condition. Staff great. Atmosphere great. Gets very busy on sports internationals days. Didn't notice food situation. Great pub.

6 of us came in and found a table at the back with 2 seats and 4 seats nearby stacked up. Started unstacking the seats so we could all sit down. Total Rottweiler of a girl started demanding we return the seats then she hid...More

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to
play. This is the city’s central business district
with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many
of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest
clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street
helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned
Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric

It is always very busy particularly at week ends so it would make sense to book in advance.
