About
The famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course at the Home of Golf. The bridge was originally built over 700 years ago so shepherds could move their flock across the Swilcan Burn which meanders through what is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Today the Swilcan Bridge, with the 'Auld Grey Toun' providing the most beautiful of backdrops, is one of the most iconic settings in golf. So much more than a little stone crossing, the Swilcan Bridge is the history of the game, it's the magic moments, it's felt the footsteps of the true greats.

We took a day trip to St. Andrews and had a quick pop in to see the most famous Bridge in golf. I have seen it on TV but standing on the bridge in person was awesome.

Our 2 kids are mad keen golfers so the obligatory photo had to be taken.
Keep an eye out for golfers and check before running onto the bridge.

Great place.

Yep, it’s a small bridge. But for a golf fan it’s as big as it gets! All of the golf greats have been over it as well as many other historic figures. Fun to walk in history. Still waiting for my invitation to walk over the bridge on 12 at Augusta!

If you get a chance to see and walk over the bridge, you need to do so. It’s a historic walk! Golfing greats have walked over the bridge. The backdrop of St. Andrews is beautiful!

Had to see bridge being a golf lover, very easy to see being close to side of road.

Free to see but just be respectful to any golfer playing, as some people are either rude or just unaware of the distraction they cause.

Bridge is small but pacts a real punch to see in real life.

Sure, why not walk onto the bridge and get your photo taken? it's free and you just need to dodge the golfers who are playing the hole. It's nice to walk out onto #18.

Even when golfers were trying to play through, folks were lined up to take a photo on the iconic bridge. It really slowed down play, and probably annoyed the golfers.

I can't describe the excitement in my husband when he saw the little bridge! A fine mist was coming down and we had a stranger take our picture. But then we started seeing people run and stand on the bridge in between golfing groups, so we waited for the right time and did the same. It felt like we were breaking the law. HA! It's picturesque, but I'll never forget the thrill and the look on my hubby's face!

The whole place is filled with magic. And to be able to see the bridge, which I’ve seen in so many magazines and TV channels… it feels unreal… it‘s kind of one step og the golfer pilgrimage

This must be one of the most famous small bridges in the world. Situated on the 18th fairway of St Andrew’s old course, this iconic bridge is the essence of golf on this famous course.
