We popped into GOMA because we had some time to fill. We were very disappointed - we used to go regularly a few years ago and the exhibition was always varied and interesting. this time, almost every thing was boring. There was one stimulating work of video art about cluster bombs, nothing else. I know that personal taste is important,... More

This is a beautiful building to look at from the outside. The modern art on the inside wasn't quite my taste but still worth popping in to see some of the architecture. It's free too!

Thank you. I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit. And, it's great that you point out we are free admission. Glasgow is brilliant for free access to Arts, Culture and Heritage! Like all museums and galleries, not just modern and contemporary art ones, we acknowledge that the displays may not be to everyone's taste. Even if a... More

We happened to be naar the gallery and walked in by chance. Interesting small exibition. I don't know that I'd advise a special effort to go but certainly worth looking around of one is nearby. It's not extremely challenging, the exhibition on contained quite a few documentaries.

Thanks for the comments. I wonder if you only chanced upon one of our four galleries as we do have a great deal of material spread across the four exhibitions on display? however, I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed what you viewed. We try really hard to provide a thought-provoking programme including displays of local and international artworks... More

I've been here a few times but nothing ever seems to change, it's a beautiful building with lovely lighting but there's not too much going on with the exhibits, however this may be because I visit Glasgow a lot. If your into art galleries then give it ago.

Thanks for the comments. I'm sorry that you found your visit to be a bit disappointing. We try really hard to provide a thought-provoking programme including displays of local and international artworks from the City’s collection alongside temporary exhibitions and events with artists. We've had good feedback from visitors who have enjoyed what's on display. As with many local authority/municipally-funded... More

Great place for modern art, recent exhibition on documentaries was good. Gallery shop was good, staff very pleasant. Also free to get in.

Was stopped in my tracks by the horrendous lump of a building in the middle of merchant square. I don't know how I've missed it all these years, since I work around the corner. I don't know why they still build buildings like this, but funding these terrible spaces is a huge waste of tax payers $$. All I can... More

We were looking forward to seeing some exciting art but were left laughing at some silly attempts to hijack real talent. We saw a painting completed with ladies soiled pants and some ripped carrier bags on top of a mesh frame. Really?

Firstly the gallery building is a very attractive landmark in Central Glasgow, and is worth a visit both by day and night as the illuminations on and around the gallery are beautiful. As for the art itself I am never really sure about 'Modern Art'. When I visited the main exhibitions included a vintage film interview regarding kinky tendencies towards... More

Very disappointing. At least it's free and you can walk through it quickly. The gallery is housed in a beautiful historic building in central Glasgow. I had some free time as the rest of my family had stopped for coffee just outside in the square. I don't get modern art at the best of times but can usually appreciate talent... More

Definitely modern art. The exhibitions on show really didn't appeal to me. I just couldn't see the connection with paintings and clothes hanging on rails.
