Having spent the night in Thurso, the castle was just a short drive away. It was charming. Small and very homey. It was clear that the staff love their jobs and feel privileged to work there. They had many anecdotes to share. Until that day, I did not know that Prince Phillip was an artist. It was good to see... More

Spent an afternoon here with the family. The young boys really enjoyed the animal farm, although not very big the animals there are varied and interesting, different types of ducks and geese, donkeys, various chickens, grouse, rabbits, beautiful birds and pigs (cleaner than usual). The enclosed garden is peaceful and in the summer should burst with colour Family ticket parents... More

Beautifully presented Castle and grounds - unspoilt and you actually feel like The Queen Mother really would live like the rooms are set out lots of private photos and gifts presented to her - Janet Roberts is outstanding what a woman her passion for the castle and the stories she shared about the Queen Mother and her stays at the... We visited the Castle on the first day of the season, which meant no crowds and engaged staff, freshly cleaned and I think decorated visitors center. An interesting and insightful visit; in a small group with a guide who gave information about the castles history, restoration and the routine and habits f the Queen Mother when she was in residence.

Visited here on Easter Monday as it is open for the Easter Weekend and was not to busy but would be real busy at the height of the season. Paid the entrance fee at the gift shop [£11.50 for one adult I believe group/family tickets are available.] and wee look round and took some photos until time for the tour... More

We really enjoyed our tour round castle mey. The tour guides were very knowledgable and we certainly felt like we got value for money as it was a long informative tour considering the size of the building. Although we didn't eat in the cafe the smells were fantastic. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained.

took a chance that Castle would be open despite one source saying it would not be open until May. Caught a guided tour just in time. One small point. While group kept waiting at front door for a guide to arrive- canopy over the door way? Our guide was very good and knew the Queen mum personally. Amazing to get... More

There were not any clear entrances, many people were backing up, turning around just to find the entrance to park. Looked like a beautiful place, may it is wonderful. However, I ended up entering the parking area via the exit, turning around and exiting the property down the wrong way street.

I have just been to the tearoom at the Castle of Mey and was horrified to find that they charge £6.50 for a ham sandwich. The profit on that sandwich must be astronomical!!!! Unless your very wealthy avoid this cafe!!!
