What an experience! Stunning views, its not just an advertisong ploy this really is the most stunning train journey in the UK. We traveled standard class and the carages were vintage but well maintained and clean. I would reccomend sitting on the left side of...More

Travel first class if you can, the kitschy cabin is worth the extra money for the experience. The landscapes you see from the train are a wonder, absolutely stunning. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey. The town at the end is unfortunately not at all pretty, and...More

I have to say well worth the visit. This has to have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world just draw dropping the whole day. I would also recommend a boat trip at the end

You pay a reasonable amount for the train trip yet why they dont clean the windows so you can take photos beats me.

Went as part of coach trip so can not comment on value, but spectacular scenery. Being away from the main road we saw plenty of wild life. Deer, hares, heron and birds of prey, and a splenrid viaduct.must not be missed if you are in...More

This trip from Fort William to Mallaig rates amongst the great railway journeys of Europe, and has the added attraction of steam if you take the Jacobite Steam Train (early booking advisable as it is justly popular). The scenery is superb and the restrictions placed...More

Great clear view of scenery going north. Rather more misty, steamy and smutty on our return making us realise how fortunate we were in the morning! Our train enthusiasts spent a lot of time looking at the engines etc. Happy times!

My wife, son and I took this fabulous train ride in July 2015. It was one of the best experiences of our Scottish vacation. We were in first class which came with snacks and beverages (hot tea...surprise!). You can also purchase alcohol on the train....More

The Jacobite train from Fort William to Mallaig is both scenic and relaxing. We got a return ticket and there was about 2 hours at Mallaig for lunch before the return trip to Fort William. There are many places for a seafood lunch at Mallaig....More

I'm a Harry Potter fan and was more than happy to splurge on a first class compartment for the "Harry Potter" experience that they advertise. Its not really a harry potter experience at all. Sure, it was comfortable and I was able to meet the...More

We passed it twice, but the engine was only right-way-round on the outward journey. Left FW at 10:15, and my photos (with most of the train on the bridge) are 10:50

I seem to be only able to get a seat on the afternoon train. Does anyone know if it's still worth going? I was hoping to get on the morning train so I could do the wildlife tour in Mallaig but really want to go on the Hogwarts train.
