Lovely ruined castle, which has been partially and tastefully repaired to give the viewing public a better view. The view at the top is worth it. I'd suggest taking a picnic and enjoy the surrounding gardens too. Entry is only £5.

Just a short run by car on the Lossiemouth road from Elgin Cathedral lies Spynie Palace. Slighly off the main road and short walk from the car park to reception I saw the Tower but nearer reception I got a better idea of the extent of the Palace. My thanks to Julie at reception for her help and for the... More

Visit here regularly. Amazing old building and the kids love the grounds. The staff are friendly, helpful and really know the history of the place. Love coming here on a sunny day as it's a peaceful location and the views from the palace are incredible. Good interpretation boards from Historic Scotland and it's worth buying the guide book for a... More

In spring you can just relax in the grass yard in front of the palace's ruins or explore the ruins. On the roof, you may see a great Horizon views!!

Went here with my young baby son and family and was told some interesting spooky stories of the castle by the staff when I bought a book - haunting castles of Scotland. He told us about the narrow corridor of the alter corner where he get lost during his routine area checkup before he has finish work of the day.... More

Good place. Plenty parking. The grounds are well kept and maintained. Lovely area to explore. Entrance fee to pay but it's not too expensive.

Neat stop with lovely views. We did get lost and took a few wrong turns before we got here but glad we followed thru and made it there. Short walk to the castle site and its worth the climb up to the top of the ruins for the pictures alone. The gentleman that had been working that day was extremely... More

The site is closed for the season, so we were not able to access the indoor rooms during our recent visit. However, it was possible to walk all around and inside the ruins. It's a beautiful place - whether open or closed. A lovely place for a picnic and for photographs.
