Potentially the only stadium I’ve ever been to with 3 names currently in use (depending on who you talk to it’s either New Broomfield, Excelsior or The Penny Cars Stadium, I’m running with Excelsior cause it sounds coolest) the home of Airdrieonians is one of the most conflicting venues in Scotland.

We’ll start with the basics, we arrived by car, so can’t speak of public transport, but the stadium is rather out on its own, with a residential estate for neighbours. Don’t bank on sitting for a drink or meal nearby. There’s a small ticket office and a perfectly serviceable club shop on the front of the main stand, no stalls of any sort outside.

Once you’re in, the food kiosk’s sole hot food output is Scotch pies, but I can confirm these to be of decent quality, provided by ‘Christie’s’ bakers. That aside you’ve got a fairly standard selection of not-that-fizzy fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps and hot drinks, the standard. Incredibly, there is actually an ice cream van(!?) within the stadium that you access by entering the stand, walking down the front and turning left. Bathrooms are perfectly passable, quite good for this level in all honesty, so no real complaints with facilities.

Once you enter the stand, it becomes clear this is actually a very nice little stadium, holding 10,000 spectators, fully seated. I was quietly impressed by it as a stadium, especially for Scotland’s third tier, the problem is that it holds that many but Airdrie average around 800 spectators per game. As such only the main stand is used, leaving it feeling eerily empty. I fully imagine this is down to the ludicrous restrictions Scottish football’s governing bodies once tried to enforce on the game, but you can’t help but feel bad…such a great stadium that’s just not been built for purpose, regardless of good intentions.

With that said, when your only regret about visiting a venue is that there’s not enough people in it, you know it’s not bad. Overall experience is 3/5, extra star for the ice cream van

Watched the SPFL Trust Trophy final between Raith Rovers and Queen of the South. Accompanied a friend who travels to watch QoS on many occasions during a season, and this from Sevenoaks, Kent.
Neat, compact little stadium and make damn good Scottish mince pies. Well done to all who made the visit very special - great crowd, good entertainment outside the stadium, great banter and what a noise generated by the merry band of supporters of both competing clubs. Good parking facilities around the stadium.
Well done staff and management at Airdrieonians FC.

Went here for a game to find only one stand open which isn’t an issue but looks like the seats here never been cleaned, not sure what the ground staff do if it’s that dirty, it’s not as if they have grass to cut as it’s a plastic pitch

The stadium is a decent size and the toilet is spacious enough that it’s not howling

The selection of food was the usual crap you can buy at the football with warm cola and pies like bobby the barman’s

If they cleaned the stands then perhaps more folk would go n watch the mighty diamonds

This is the home ground of Airdrieonians FC. The ground has a capacity of 10,101 and features a 3G pitch. Those who follow The Diamonds will undoubtedly like this place, as will those neutrals who like to visit Scottish football grounds.

The pies were terrible, half of mine was charcoal black and my friend received 3rd degree burns on his lip. Apart from the 10yr ginger ninja in the red trackie trying to take on our mighty Ayr ultras it was a good day and finished with us taking home the 3 points

This stadium has a vast area and its one of modern stadiums in Glasgow! always clean and has professional management team! Though its far from their previous place, this new place has more popularity due to their modern equipments and professional coaches and management!

nice place to watch the football, will never beat the old broomfield though. Pity they did not build the stadium where the old place was :(

Next stop on our tour of the grounds. Tidy modern ground just off the A73 on the road to Cumbernauld. Poorly signposted from the south but better signage from the north.
Home fans enter via Craigneuk Avenue and away fans via Petersburn Road which has no street sign on the A73 end hence the reason we missed the turn initially.
Decent sized car parking at the ground and lots of available places to park in the streets within five minutes walk.
Only one of the four stands were open for the game we were at, but plenty of room and well stewarded. Good sight lines and the plastic seats were typical of this type of ground.
Catering was normal fare, but the pies we had were excellent and the service was reasonable.
Neat little ground and worth a visit.

A newish ground, quite basic with 4 similar stands , only 1 which was open. That led to a lack of atmosphere. The ground is a taxi ride from the town centre.
The bar we went in at the ground only had canned beer, but was friendly enough.
Lacks character, but been to worse grounds
