We spent a week in the Trossachs exploring and saw endless beautiful places, at a good time of year due to the trees turning lovely colours but the Lake of Menteith was breathtakingly lovely. Peaceful and good for walking nearby. We visited Inchmahome Priory too, which is magical. We would definitely recommend a visit!

When visiting, don't miss the opportunity of travelling on the ferry to the priory ruins on the island.

Ferry sits 12 people. Get there early as the last ferry is 4:15pm. The Priory is good. Read the signs and see the Abbey and ruins. Take a walk around the island. Last ferry leaves island at 5pm. Enjoy it!

What place to visit! The lake itself is located in the must beautiful soundings. Then on top there is the small island that has the Inchmahome Priory on it. This place is just wonderful. Access is via a small motor boat that carries about 12 people. The trip to and from the island takes only a few minutes but is... More

Lovely hotel in a peaceful tranquil setting. Can feel a little remote unless you are a walker or cyclist, but thats why we go. Customer service is excellent . Very nice staff in all areas of the hotel. Good food, good bar , especially if you are a whisky buff. Thinks its our 4th time so that speaks for itself.Lovely... More

A pleasant spot in lovely scenery, being Scotland's only lake. Unfortunately no ferry available so we couldn't visit the priory. Maybe next time!

Rowed by the ferryman across the lake to the Island of Inchmahome on a cold September morning, we watched the anglers (mostly) fly fishing for trout. We used a 'Visit Scotland' tourist pass, otherwise we might not have bothered which would have been a pity. The island is the home of a ruined monastery instituted by the Earl of Monteith... More

One of the loveliest and most peaceful places I've ever been. If the ferry isn't at the dock just turn the white side of the sign to the island and they will see it & come get you. Taking a picnic would be ideal. We were there on a beautiful sunny day in August.

It's more than 20 years since we were last in this part of Scotland and we just had to drop by Lake of Menteith to see how it had changed. Delighted to report that if anything it is even more beautiful than we remembered. Peaceful, serene, and beautifully framed by the gentle hills all around. We were pleased to see... More
