Stunning Beach; especially impressive at low tide. There are some good facilities near by which were free to use.

Much less well known than Luskentyre and some of the Harris beaches, but if anything even more spectacular. Enormous expanses of golden sands, stunning clear water, and spectacular mountain views all round. Perfect!

Bank holiday Monday so everything was closed. when we arrived after a long baron drive artefacts and chess pieces that were found......are displayed in Edinborough museum and London!!!! Dissapointed. The beach was scenic. The iron house found on the beach was interesting, though we couldn't go in as it was closed!!! There were two photogenic highland cows, which we were... More

This place was unbelievable, if it wasn't for the weather you would think that you were abroad. It's so unspoiled and you can be the only people on the beach which is fantastic. The Sands are white and sea turquoise. We also found a cafe which was just someone's house where the lady was waiting to serve tea, coffee and... More

And the story of the chess pieces from the middle ages (made from walrus ivory) was a nice bonus - there is a statue to commemorate this.

This is a great spot for a picnic, fly a kite or just wonder the sand looking for cowrie shells. We have often seen kite surfers (not sure of the exact term) which are amazing to watch. Loos at the carpark make it more attractive for a lunch/flask stop.

There are tropical paradises that are green with envy at the quality and wonderfulnous that are Lewis' beaches. True, the water is warmer in Tahiti, but you won't find such a stretch of sand and have so few people in your way. Uig beach was a pilgrimage for me, to see where the Lewis Chessmen were found, and ended up... More

Although the March weather was tough, the beach is massive and a great cobweb clearing walk. The giant Chessman is interesting after the tiny carvings in the museum

Just beautiful we stayed in our motorhome in the little campsite that backs on to the beach.. the sunset was awesome and the colour of the sea and sand more resembled the Caribbean! Can't recommend highly enough.. will definitely be going back there!
