I visited Moyasta station at 3.45 pm on Monday 12/06/2017. The place was deserted and neglected, with nothing to suggest that it has recently been open or would ever be open again. The website gives opening times for 2016 as 1-4 pm (implying daily) from...More

Dropped by here on Easter Sunday. Got into conversation with Jackie Whelan who set up this bit of history. Absolutely fascinating talking to him. He is so passionate about the museum and has great plans to set up a National Railway Museum. Using his own...More

A major achievement by Jackie and his family, who have restored 3/4 mile of the old West Clare Railway and one of it's engines. It was a shame that the day we visited was not a steam day (we were aware of this), but Jackie's...More

The Slieve Callan restoration project is and was a magnificent example of what one man can do in the face of adversity. I was outraged by some of the negative comments on here from people who clearly had no idea the amount of blood, sweat...More

This is an attraction that will have children and dads having a great day out. Ride on the train with Diesel engine was very enjoyable. There are special days for the steam locomotive. Staff have a real love of this restoration project that is still...More

Jackie and his family (with, no doubt help from friends and community) have done a wonderful job preserving this little piece of narrow gauge railway history. I wish them all success in the future. Peter Wise.

One of our party was particularly looking forward to this visit being a bit of a train buff here in England. Sadly, there was nothing to be excited about mainly because it wasn't open and didn't look as if it was open for business. Admittedly...More

Yes but you should phone in advance. It is run as a hobby by a Jackie Whelan who owns a recycling company in Ennis. He only opens for limited hours at weekends. Despite this I would urge you to go. He is so passionate about... More
