My daughter and I had a lovely drive along this coastal road. The views in good weather are great and the scenery is rugged and otherworldly. I imagine it would be a very wild drive in bad weather!

This is a beautiful, eerie drive because the region looks other-worldly. You have to experience it, it's so hard to describe. The rocks look lavender from afar, and driving the coastal route is a wonderful way to view the Burren. There are lots of places to stop and get out to walk or just take in the scenery. I can't... We spent eight days driving the Wild Atlantic Drive. For us it is not the scenery that makes this particular drive, it is the moonlike landscapes absolutley amazing, such an enjoyable drive hard to keep eyes on the road at times, plenty of stops to take it all in and piccies of course.

The landscape here is like something out of the movies. The stones retain heat, so in the spaces between them, there are plants growing that would otherwise grow in much warmer regions. You can walk (carefully) out along the Burren or enjoy it from a distance on a drive through.

The drive from Black Head through Fanore and south toward Doolin along R477 is a unique and hauntingly beautiful area of Ireland. The huge boulders seem as though they were dropped from the heavens by a giant and placed atop the limestone pavement of the burren. Among the clints and grykes colorful flowers including wild orchids bloom in spring and... More

We were able to see The Burren on a wet day (duh) and I think we lucked out as the rain made the limestone shine in a very surreal way. The cracks and breaks in the surface of the land are amazing. It's so amazing to be in such "green" and then to see so much limestone. Definitely stop but... More
