Nice atmospheric place full of history we had a great guide man Ross. Its big island and you can walk around it at your own if you prefer and like. Boat trip was perfect.

spike island is a little island outside of cobh harbour.the english army used it as a prison simply because it was hard to escape from.most of the people locked up there were innocent or maybe just stole an potato.it was a way of keeping undesireables...More

No apart from guide dogs.dogs aren’t allowed on island . It’s on this page just above where they mention voucher. It’s on the main spike island website

Hi Alan, tour guide told us yesterday it's because the natural rock on the island was formed in such a way and much higher than sea level in the shape of a spike
