Would highly recommend a trip to this museum. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging, and the small tour group size allowed for a more personal experience. The museum is well-maintained and really transports you back to the time it was in use. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and always happy to answer any questions throughout the tour.

This was a fascinating tour and in my opinion the best museum in Dublin. The tour-guide was very well-informed and displayed a deep knowledge of the gaol and the times in which it was active. The prison is well-preserved and a chill ran down my spine when we were shown the point where the 1916 leaders were executed by firing squad. This is a tour which leaves a lasting impression and I highly recommend it for locals and for tourists alike.

In my opinion, this is a must-see when you visit Dublin. It sheds so much light on Irish history and the fight for independence.

Dave, our tour guide, was amazing! He knew so much about not only the jail, but the entire the country’s history. He was knowledgeable and patient, answering many of my dumb questions. I wish we could’ve taken Dave with us all over Ireland!

The history, the story and the jail is a must see when you're in Dublin. The tour guide, Dave, was very informative and passionate. He was very knowledgeable and made the entire tour interesting and engaging.

At the end of the tour, one has a better understanding and respect for Ireland's history. I know I did.

One part that i felt engaged in was the "all seeing eye" room where a guard was able to see every cell no matter where they stood. We were able to walk into some and peek into some of the cells.

Afterwards, you entered an museum exhibit where you can see letters that were written to loved ones, clothes, and other personal paraphernalia.

Interesting aspect of Irish history is told, however from a very nationalistic, Irish point of view.

Myself and my Family visited Kilmainham Jail on New Years Eve. Our Tour Guide was Ben who was very informative and accomadating answering lots of questions with great enthusiasm, thank you Ben. It is quite emotional to walk around in the footsteps of those who we owe our freedom. The attached Museum is also very informative and I would reccomend a visit to anyone who comes to Dublin and is interested in learning more about our history.

The visit was way more interesting than any research I did about the place. For sure worth a visit and maybe the best place in town to really understand Ireland’s history! So much information but well explained and of course, the place itself carries a lot of the country’s history.
Dave, our tour guide, was amazing! He really shows his love for his country’s history in how well he explains all about it. Thank you so much Dave!
