Yes, sorry to say that the museum is closed on Mondays, but stay for the gardens, they're very nice, worth a slow walk around to admire the whole layout. The small gardeners cottage has a brief history of the whole hospital development. The plants are great. The layout amazing.

IMMA is one of my favourite museums in the world, I think the curation and programming is always very interesting. The ground are also incredible. The shop leaves a lot to be desired but I do like the edition section at the entrance.

Spent the afternoon here with the family. The building are lovely and fabulous if the weather is good for a stroll in the gardens. We saw the Lucien Freud exhibition which is really fascinating even if you are not into modern art. If we had time, we would have paused to have a cup of coffee in the cafe but... More

It's good to visit any museum and celebrate art. Long, but nice walk from old town didn't meet our expectations. Not well organized setup in the museum gives you hard time for spatial orientation and free admission part is more artists social and political messages then art by itself.

I was not a big fan of their collection of modern art, but I did like the Lucien Freud expo, which wasn’t free.

As it is not in Dublin centre -- if you're going to the Kilmainham Goal, make a side trip to the IMMA which is just across the street. It is a nice museum in beautiful surroundings. IMMA museum has free admission, except for the 5-year (starting Sept 2016) Lucien Freud exhibit ( Euro 8 for adults, Euro 5 for seniors).... More

It's not on the typical tourist path (we took a bus from the city center and then walked 10 minutes), but the grounds and artwork are amazing. The museum is free except for the Lucien Freud project. PAY to see that exhibit. It is worth it. The other parts of the museum display modern works from recognized and international artists.... More

The walk down to the IMMA from the Gaol is absolutely stunning. The picturesque tree lined walkway is like the ones you see in films. Keep your wits about you though as whilst we were there some escaped animals were roaming the grounds, thankfully we're quick runners. The artwork on display was not only inspirational but came with practical advice... More

Stay away and visit the national gallery or the National museum or the Epic or the jail-- really anywhere but here. Awful art. No gift shop. Endless walk to see nothing and close to the very very worst pub in Dublin. Seriously. Hop back on the bus and keep going.

The museum has a somewhat sparse collection (there is a sign pleading for more public funding) of contemporary (not "modern") art. You may find the pieces intriguing, pretentious, moving or silly. Unless one is a true devotee of the very current, it may not be the best use of one's time, though ti is easily combined with a visit to the... More
