Sandymount strand is a pleasant stretch of beach which is very close to the city centre. Nice spot for a walk or cycle. However sandymount village is very pretentious and full of dreadfully unpleasant, stuck up locals.

I wouldn't have people go out of their way unless they are looking for a modest beach like walk. Depending on tides this area has some beach to walk on with lots of clam and mussel shells. Plenty of sea birds and shallow warm water. Their is plenty of paved walkway for a nice scenic walk. My 5 year old... More

We have just moved to Dublin and live a short stroll away and pretty much come here everyday. Great spot if you are playing Pokemon go, you have around 3-4 pokestops with a gym too! If you are up for a longer walk you can keep walking north and curve around and eventually get to the lighthouse (about 5-6km each... More

Located within easy reach of the city centre, just 3 miles from O'Connell Bridge, the strand lies on the south side of Dublin bay. There is a tarmacadam promenade which is the preferred means for most visitors to take in the views of Dublin bay and surrounds while getting in a bit of exercise. Outdoor gym furniture has been added... More

On a fine day, it's very pleasant to walk along the tidal flats of Sandymount Strand and enjoy breathing the fresh sea air; it feels miles away from the big city, but in fact is a short walk away from Sydney Parade train station and a ten-minute train ride to city centre.

I really like this part of the city. Especially on a sunny day. It is near a nice little village that takes great pride in it's cleanliness. And it is a brilliant spot for trying out if your dog likes water or not as the sea is very far out due to the wide beach. Even on a bad day... More

Our hotel The Gibson was a short walk from this lovely beach. A good break from the city and always good to breathe in that fresh sea air. Sandymount Strand is a large beach especially when the tide is out. Used by many locals and pet owners exercising their dogs. Highly recommend a day here, weather permitting.

We chose a sunny, low tide day to visit Sandy mount Strand. Saw many children playing with their pet dogs, some joggers, brisk walkers and of course tourists like us. It is a good place to relax. Leave all your tensions enjoy the nature. Have a birds eye view of the vast sea, seabirds, seashells , passing ferries, the Lighthouse... More

Came for a nice long walk from the town to the grand canal and then to the beach front. Made a lovely change and really nice to see a new area. Loved it

As We have family living very near Sandymount strand anytime we visit it's on our agenda to have at least one stroll along the side of the beach on the well used footpath all the way into Blackrock a round 4 Km in total. Great views stretching from Howth in the north to Dun laoghaire and beyond in the south... More
