The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours...

The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours renowned for it's hospitality and famous pint of Guinness! You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

There is a back room as well as rooms upstairs that can be hired privately. We drank Guinness the last time we were... More

Stopped for a quick guiness, old pub with wooden panelling on the walls, and a good atmosphere. Worth adding to your list if you are on a Dublin pub tour. The barman was very entertaining.

This completely scratched the itch for a great, traditional pub in Dublin. We had our first pint of Guinness, along with a very tasty little lunch (seafood chowder and steak & Guinness pie). Prices were very reasonable and service was super friendly.

Great pub stop near to all of the attractions, but just slightly off the beaten path. Fantastic live music- be prepared for it to be completely jam packed inside- and good pub food and drinks during the day. Stop in!

This is one of my favourite Dublin pubs. Just off the beaten path where only locals and adventurous tourists find themselves. Beautiful inside, nice pint of Guinness, all ages.

Amazing place in town! Just at the back of Mercantile and just a few steps away from Grafton, the bar has a great atmosphere. Not sure but probably the oldest in Ireland and in the world. Highly recommended! Delicious dishes served too!

We spent a few hours in the Stag's Head - the wine was good, the food was tasty and the service was fast and friendly. The Victorian atmosphere is very traditional and beautiful - definitely worth stopping in to see the stained glass windows. It's a lively pub with good drink and food - what's not to like? No tv...
