Very significant imposing building reminiscent of Roman architecture, if it were not grey stone it would stand out even better ?

Very austere building on the inside. You get the feeling of lots and lots stones as the entire stone walls are visible on the inside. It looks like a great place to sit in peace and be distracted by too much "stuff" for want of a better word. Well worth a visit.

You really have to see it, because it dominates the skyline and it is quite well-situated, a jumping-off point for canalside walks, university, and if you go back across the Salmon Weir bridge towards the Courthouse and turn left you have a lovely walk up Wood Quay. The cathedral itself is large and it manages to be cool on hot... More

Short visit with friends from the USA. very interesting modern building with a good athmosphere. Cathedral book shop is a bit small but it has a fairly good supply of spiritual books. Well worth a visit or stay for a little quiet time at the adoration chapel.

The cathedral has a nice location and has a nice exterior, but the insides are not spectacular. The atmosphere was off - and the gift shop was loud and disturbed the peace.

I was humbled walking through this beautiful cathedral. The architecture was amazing. Great to sit and contemplate life.

During our multi-city trip of Ireland in November 2016, we visited the Galway Cathedral and it was absolutely breathtaking, awe-inspiring and solemn experience. I absolutely adore visiting cathedrals/churches every place I visit and the Galway Cathedral is ranked high on my list of favorites (my absolutely favorite is Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, QC).
