Stopped in on our visit to Ireland while my wife was shopping. This is very conveniently located and where I had my fist Guinness in Ireland. The atmosphere is very quaint. It was not very crowded when I was there which was right around noon time.

My husband and I really enjoyed sitting outside here on the patio. It was a lovely day to enjoy a Guinness and a cappuccino. The bar staff was very friendly and so were some of the older gentlemen at the bar who I assume were the 'regulars' It was a fun time for sure!

Authentic feeling with plenty of locals who freely engage in conversation with the "non-locals". A great experience!

Visited twice, lovely old pub with many whiskeys, you have a choice of 5 flights varying from €12 - 95 for 3 glasses plus an in depth explanation from Fiona behind the bar and a written explanation to take away. Very impressed, we enjoyed all our whiskeys, some more than others, and would recommend and revisit.

I stopped in at Garavans because it has tables on the street, it looked a small old style pub I wanted to drink a pint of guinness and watch the people pass by. That there are usually several buskers nearby providing music to the flow of people makes it a fine location to sit outside, maybe talk to a local... More

We had a lot of questions about Whiskey and the age and quality and the bartender took a lot of time to educate us before we made several purchases

Walked in and made to feel at home straight away. Good friendly staff and plenty of room to either find a quite corner or sit out side. So much to read on the walls and so much local history.

It was an unexpectedly beautiful Saturday in Galway. City center was bustling and we were touring the city for a day. It was time for a rest and an afternoon drink. We were looking for something outdoors but everything was packed, so we opted for inside at Garavans. What a treat! The place was friendly and fun, while also relaxing.... More
