We visited many abbeys in three weeks but I thought that riding the horse and carriage to this one added to the ambiance. Smaller abbey but lots of charm and history - loved the yew tree that they built the courtyard around.

We took a jaunt cart to the abbey and our driver told us all about the history of the abbey. His grandparents are even buried in the graveyard. The scene is haunting and beautiful at the same time.

Outside of a few interesting headstones, not much left of the Abbey, but it's free and worth a walk through. Nobody around so you have to make up your own interpretation of what the rooms were purpose.

A great spot that is sacred ground and the ruins are well preserved. We walked around for at least an hour. There is a lot to see here because it is so well kept. If in area, worth the side trip.

This was beautiful and very moving. I think people skip seeing this Abbey and they shouldn't. It was the best Abbey we saw in Ireland. And it's free!

While touring for three weeks in Ireland, we toured the Muckross House. We had a delightful guided tour by a knowledgeable lady. This was a very impressive estate, and worthy of a look.

We visited Killarney 2 years ago and somehow missed visiting the Abbey - don't! It's spectacular. Go early in the morning when it's not inundated with people. Walk through the graveyard, some sad tales.

Most people miss it. It is quiet but got a lot of atmosphere. A must see on your way to the Muckross House.
