These little "slips" in Kilkenny are so convenient! You almost felt like you were back in Midieval times sneaking from one street to another.

This is just an alleyway. It's a cool alleyway with an arch and has a lot of character, but it's still just an alleyway. Walk through it if you're there, but don't go out of your way.

Our tour guide explained its function, time period and purpose. HIghly recommended to be included in a walking tour.

Access is a bit difficult because of the steep stairs outside but I'm glad we went because of the bookshop, which looks tiny on the outside but is huge inside and well worth the visit. We found three old books on Irish History for less than 20 euros.

Interesting place to see if you can see beyond the tacky window decor on the little shops in the alley - there is really nothing much to see here.

The butter slip is simply an alley way made impressively out of stone that connects the upper and lower streets associated with the medieval mile. There are a couple of shops and very nice restaurants in the alley

Downtown Killkenny was nice. Butterslip is just an alleyway. Not sure why it is listed as something to see.

Taking the Butter slip saves you some from one street to another. I would highly recommend you use it.

A nice area for shopping, dining and people watching. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner nearby at Petronella

Unless I missed something telling what the historical significance of this alley is, it's just an old alley. Quaint, cobbled, narrow, unremarkable; other than it put me in front of Petronella's Restaurant which was a great dinner.
