I recently visited the Butler Gallery - yet another free attraction in Kilkenny and was very impressed with the Gallery Space. The present show MIchael Snow: The Viewing of Six New Works did not light my fire but the space was wonderful. Obviously I missed the message of Snow's work although I appreciate he is an internaionally renowned visual artist,... More

You can always rely on the Butler Gallery for something completely different! The exhibition I visited was about morse code etc - it was more a documentation of communication methods rather than any interpretation or art. Nicely documented though.

It was great to see how things were back in the days of old. We were not disappointed with our visit and would definitely recommend it to family, friends and visitors.

went to the Butler Gallery before touring Kilkenny Castle. They had a unique exhibition by Irish artist Janet Mullarney. A bit strange and very unique. Worth a visit when visiting the castle. It was included with the price of admission of the Kilkenny Castle tour. I would not see it otherwise, unless it was featuring an artist I liked. The... More

Fabulous exhibition celebrating the launch of the Irish made animated movie 'The Song of The Sea.' Gallery is well kept and the displays are amazing, well worth a visit if you're about the castle this time of year.

The Butler Gallery in Kilkenny has an unusual exhibition running to October - materials prepared in the making of Oscar (TM!) nominated animated movie The Song of the Sea. The amount of work that went into it is hugely impressive. The variety of artistic talent spans illustration, line drawing, colouring, concept origination, all of which precede the work of animation... More

This was a very impressive display of art. The works on display were beautiful and the artists are deservedly proud of the work.

We had been to see the film Song of the Sea and my eldest daughter, who'd been to the exhibit already had recommended we go too. I've been to the Butler Gallery a few times and this exhibit was great. My 6 and 4 year old loved seeing the exhibit. They had really enjoyed the film and to see the... More
