Both the XVIth century house and exhibnits are seldom displayed. Very well writen and infiormative notices, without any pretention. Behind the house, the reconstiituion of the city garden, extending to to city wall is both exceptional (few places in Europe have done the effort to...More

For me the main attraction was the garden. I could imagine walking in the steps of the Archers and the Rothes down the long narrow garden with herbs veg and fruit trees and bushes.

This house gives a wonderful flavour of the life of a well-to-do merchant family in Kilkenny from the 1590s to the mid 1600s. The house is beautifully restored and it shows the simplicity and elegance of a house of this period. There are 3 houses,...More

The medieval mile museum told us who the Rothes were. This made this museum more interesting. A realistic example of the households of the time. The gardens were impressive too.

Home of the Kilkenny archaeological society it has a lovely garden at the back which you reach through a series of medieval courtyards. Museum of local newspapers here too, very interesting.

Recently had the pleasure of bringing my team and colleagues from around the world to Kilkenny for a 3 day meeting at Rothe House. We had a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend Rothe House for your next corporate offsite!

We arrived in Kilkenny tired and a little overwhelmed. We picked one site to see before continuing to Cashel. The Rothe Garden was well worth the visit. While we didn't fully explore the house, the information on the restoration of the garden, when had been...More

House very interesting and we were able to tour it ourselves in a leisurely way with the aid of an information sheet they handed us at the desk. We had the place practically to ourselves which made it wonderful to ponder and view the rooms...More

Allow 1-2 hours, that should be sufficient, but if you are on a whirlwind tour like a lot of Americans who come here, see the castle first, enjoy the touristy shopping mall opposite the castle, the high street and the... More
