It was ok, interesting information - but I wouldn't call it a must see. Self guided tour with some interesting history info, but kind of dry.

This was certainly one of the highlights of Kilkenny Staff lovely, and the restoration superb. It was easy to book a tour, and easy to tour the house. Don't miss the gardens. There is a lift for access as well.

ye0s this place is worth spending some time in. an "ordinary" house for a merchant of it's time. it gives you a good sense of what daily life was like. its opposite the Smithwicks tour and has a street of little coffee shops nearby

Rothe House is a well preserved Medieval House in Kilkenny, the house which is largely unfinished gives an insight of how people lived several hundred years ago and is very different to modern houses, with a lovely garden at the back! The book shop sells...More

This is a little gem in the centre of Kilkenny. I had no idea there was so much to see here. Plenty of historical interest and very good exhibitions. There is a large garden right on top of building, really beautiful. Well worth a visit....More

Definitely worth spending an hour touring the facility and grounds. Directly a across the road from Smithwick's Brewery so you can follow up with a cold beverage - a win win!

This place was a lot more than I had expected. The staff were friendly and gave us a self-guiding tour sheet to guide us around the house. The whole place is very accessible and the staged museum-feel is pleasantly minimised. It was a lovely place...More

What an interesting garden! We spent a couple of hours and I took photos of an interesting rapsberry lattice as well as studied very interesting heritage plants flowers/shrubs and veggies.

It’s a house, inside a house, inside a house, inside a hidden garden. And what a garden it is. Loved it. Great way to pass a few hours trying to work out the dynamics of the place

It was lashing with rain when I visited Kilkenny and Rothe House was a welcome sanctuary from the rain outside. The house itself was interesting enough but the gardens at the back were the highlight for me. Even though it was still bucketing down, I...More

Allow 1-2 hours, that should be sufficient, but if you are on a whirlwind tour like a lot of Americans who come here, see the castle first, enjoy the touristy shopping mall opposite the castle, the high street and the... More
