Having read about this place we decided to have a walk and we were not disappointed. The Monkey Puzzle walk was very impressive. The coffee shop in the garden is quite unique and unforgettable. If the weather permits seating is available outside. Staff at coffee shop and in the gardens were very helpful. I would class this as one of... More

A famous garden. Lots of areas to enjoy the history and horticultural gems. Still a lot of restoration to do but, so far, the works carried out are impressive.

The house is now a stony ruin, but the gardens are worth a visit with terraces, views, and marvellous trees. It would be a great place to take a family for a good run-around.

This is a wonderful place to visit in all seasons, full of history and atmosphere. There are marvelous tea rooms on the grounds in a conservatory designed by Richard Turner who was responsible for the glasshouse range at Kew Gardens in London. The structure is from cast iron with specially curved glass for the roof. It was constructed between 1853... More

We strolled around the grounds on a lovely, sunny spring day and had a fantastic time. It was beautiful out and walked around for an hour or two, just strolling and taking pictures. Afterwards we had tea at the Circle of Friends Cafe nearby. A wonderful spring afternoon for all!

I would recommend a visit here if you are near the vicinity, the gardens and surrounding woods are a very pleasant walk. Children will love the bamboo tress and the underground cellars which you can wander into as you explore the gardens.

Visiting friends in Kilkenny Eire and was taken to Woodstock near Thomastown to see the colours of Autumn. Met a very friendly employee who offered to give us a guided tour around and explain about the house, grounds and trees and their history. For 4 euros car parking it is certainly value for money. Hope to return in summer with... More
