We rented bicycles and rode the 42 KMS from Achill Island to Westport. Well worth doing but it can be more strenuous than one may think. There are many uphill sections and a wind was constantly against us.

Cycled from Achil to Westport with a gang of friends. Great way to spend a day / weekend taking it some spectacular scenery between Achil and Westport. Cycle way is a fantastic addition to the area, the majority of it away from any main roads...More

as soon as you have found where to start i is very easy to follow. the way is almost flat, sp you can do it even if you are not extremely fit. partly parallel to the roads but all together a nice trip.

The Greenway is a lovey place to have a relaxed bicycle ride and experience the country side with no cars.

Beautiful scenery and quaint little towns on route. Westport to Mulranny is the easiest part. Mulranny to Newport is nice but has a long stretch which gets tough for kids, Newport to Achill is great, lovely breeze, bit of a trek but well worth it....More

It's a good two hour cycle. You have many opportunities to break up the journey which you should plan on doing. My I suggest Mulranny Park Hotel, Navin's of Tiernaur, the Blue Bicycle in Newport. Enjoy your trip!

hi, I am thinking to cycle the green way on a October's bank holiday. Just wondering how the weather is around that time of the year? Is this a crazy idea? Thanks David

Hi,its a brilliant idea. Be prepared for rain, as someone said before. The weather should be just warm enough to cycle. Hope the weather is gonna be good for you!
