We took a boat trip on Lough Gill, We boarded at Parke's Castle, which is actually in Co. Leitrim! George and his wife have operated this 'Rose-of- Innisfree' tour boat for over 25 years! We loved this trip, as both George and his wife are adorable and made this boat-trip very, very special. George recites W.B. Yeats poetry and then plays... More

Wow! What a place, I'm into photography and chose Sligo as my Easter base for some photography, and what a choice, with so many Historical sites, Mountains, Lakes, Loughs, Beaches etc within a 10 mile Radius! Highly recommend to anyone!

Absolutely gorgeous drive to do if you are in Slig. Lots of rest stops, most with picnic facilities. The views of Lough Gill are stunning. The famous Lake Isle of Innisfree made famous by Yeats is a particular highlight. Plenty of good eateries here and there as you pass and though some of the roads are winding, they are not... More

A really great drive especially if the weather is good and in October the colour of the autumn leaves is fabulous

We spent a lovely morning on this, stopping at a few places, but particularly enjoying the drive from the main road down to the waters edge close to the Isle of Innisfree. We would love to do this drive again when we would have more time, as there were a number of additional stops which we just had not enough... More

Amazing drive around the Lough. Made several stops to walk and explore a variety of locations, most of which were free to access.

The route around Lough Gill is at times breath taking. Don't forget to stop of at Dooney Rock for a walk through the forest at the waters edge. The road is quiet and I suggest to start at Carraroe. Well worth it.

Several historical homes, abbeys, monasteries and castles are on the drive. Also if you are a Yeats fan, you will see the Isle od Innifree

This is a lovely drive but you must be aware of the bends on the road. There are a couple of viewing sites and should be seen. Beautiful.
