We recently visited Cahir Castle and really enjoyed the experience. It is wonderfully preserved. It is well worth taking the tour as it was very interesting and gave us the history of this marvellous place.

Visited here with a group. The castle has some nice features and the tour was informative. There are some antlers from an extinct elk which were pretty cool. There is a nice park behind the castle and some cafes and restaurants on the street outside....More

After visiting ROC and on the way to Kilkenny, we stopped off at Cahir Castle. This was another castle owned by the Irish Butler Dynasty. It was fabulous! It is one of Ireland's largest and best preserved castles. There were probably less than 5 people...More

Stopped at Cahir Castle on our first day in Ireland, as a midpoint stop between Dublin Airport and Kerry. The next tour was full and we didn't want to spend too long at the castle, so we wandered around a bit on our own. The...More

We visited Kilkenny castle the day before which was great, but the ruggedness of Cahir really helped me get a feel for castles in their austereness before being remodeled throughout the years. We’ve visited a lot of castle ruins. This is definitely a highlight.

Very interesting Castle. We got there and was next to the last tour for the day. The staff was very knowledgeable. Another place you need to see if your into history or just castles. The place has several short doors so look out.

With the number of castles available in Ireland to view, this castle would be somewhere in the bottom 50%. It's a pleasant afternoon but couldn't recommend it as a destination. We paid €8 a piece for entry. There's an interesting movie to be seen, and...More

Beautiful location right on the running river. The narrated tour is a must. Though this castle remains much in its ruined state, there are many rooms that you can wander through including a watchtower.

We stopped by middle of the day and it was practically empty. The tour was really interesting and we followed it up by reading the history in the little museum room. It’s worth a visit.

When you think of a Castle this is what comes to mind. There are many castles in ireland most derelict, or manor house decorated like a castle. This tour gives you the feel of what a medieval castle was like and how people lived in...More
