We just got back from Ireland and my memories will last a lifetime......but nothing could compare to the absolute beauty and serenity of hiking up this mountain alongside the sheep amidst the beautiful yellow gorse bushes. I could only wish that heaven is just as...More

Coumshingaun is a very special place. You'll find extraordinary peace at this mountain top lake. You'll dream about it afterwards.

Looking to do the coumshinagaun loop while on holiday in Dungarvan. Don't have boots but have decent runners and a raincoat. Am I right saying it will take 4 adults around 2.5 hours? Is the trail well mapped out?

I love Coumshingaun and have been visiting here for years. It is a bit of a climb and is certainly not for the infirm. If you are up to it though it is very rewarding as the views are spectacular. The water is cold and...More

On a sunny day this easily accessible hike to the top of Coumshingaun offers great views of the surrounding countryside. I have seen people swimming here on Sunny days but I wasn't brave enough.

Firstly, this is not an easy walk, if you're planning on walking the ridge above the lake but, it's absolutely worth the effort. Just a few points: 1. Get to Kilclooney car park early as space is limited. Many cars park along the road if...More

Amazing to see a glacial feature so close to home. It was a long walk for me although I don't usually walk. A few dead sheep though but I guess that's nature.

A great walk for the fit, active type who likes to experience four seasons in one day. This is the best Coum in Ireland and the circuit above the lake is a breathtaking experience.

As far as I am aware there is a Bus Eireann bus from Carrick-on-Suir to Leamybrien (and vice versa), but infrequent. Look up the Bus Eireann website.

Only saw this question now - sorry. I hope you enjoyed your visit? For future reference: There are no signed markings. From the car park it is obvious the way to go through the forest to a forest roadway. When you come to... More

Theoretically, it would be possible. The lake is quite small however and I woud not fancy trying to carry a kayak up the mountain over rough terrain!
