With one of the most comprehensive displays of farming and rural life in the country, the Irish Agricultural Museum and Johnstown Castle Gardens make a wonderful day out for all the family - whatever the weather. The beautifully maintained ornamental gardens surrounding the castle extend to 40 hectares and feature three lakes, a walled garden and a resident family of peacocks.

A great three hours wandering around beautiful grounds and a lunch in the courtyard. Well done to whichever government agencies are involved with this.

If you do visit take the opportunity to explore the museum as an addition to the exceptional castle and gardens. Although you can only see the exterior of the castle it is still worth it. Walk casually around the museum taking in the exhibits along...More

This is an impeccably kept landscape. The gardens are gorgeous and it's an easy walk around the grounds. The museum is interesting and much larger than it looks. There is so much stuff to see. The peacocks are cool too!

Spent a great afternoon here with family. €24 for family ticket so visited museum and gardens. Lovely walks around lakes and amazing walled garden. Great potential to restore hot houses and open the castle but with Govt. running it money will probably never be there....More
