Ruins of a Abbey.

We searched for this for a long time, but was not really worth it as it was ruins and was a bit disappointed.

love coming here to this lovely medieval building. don't come often depends if it is open or if there is an event here. Just enjoy the surroundings and imaginings of days gone by.

Not to be confused with the nearby Blackfriars Monastery, which has substantially more remains, a bit of a garden, and at least being restored. My quick tour of the remaining bits of Greyfriars was much curtailed, due to the safety fences still surrounding the site. English Heritage has a duty of care to the public, hence the need for the... There are a few remaining walls of the Greyfriars monastic house and church down an alley off Southgate. It's small and unprepossessing. With the fences around it, it looks rather scruffy. The fencing is see through, so you can see all you need, and the fencing is close to the walls, so you are not kept away, but the impression... More

Have twice supported vintage Fayre. Beautiful surroundings, beautiful buildings. A wonderful place. Music dancing on the lawn, perfect atmosphere.

This is the site of the former Greyfriars friary, located behind Eastgate Shopping Centre. It is a reasonably sized ruin, but it is impossible to gain access as entirely fenced off, no doubt for safety reasons.
