October on the canal was beautiful and shows a completely different side of the area

So October isn't the best time temperature wise to go on the canal. Chilly first thing, but the heating still fixes that. Training is given and it is easy to pick up. There is no reason to rush and we found the suggested top speed fine. Beautiful scenery, lots of trees and great food either from the local pubs on... More

Have been going back to Galleon since I was little and the new owners are doing the company proud. Good updates on the narrowboats and even more helpful. Can't argue with the prices and for a long weekend it is one of my favourite places to be. The canal is stunning and doesn't have those horrible parts that other canals... More

We picked our Boat up shortly after 4 on Monday the 19th of September ready to begin our voyage on the Basingstoke canal. After being Briefed on the rules of canal boating and a brilliant practical Demonstration of how to operate the Boat we were cast off . The Staff were superb and the boats were spotless and perfectly equipped.... More

We would highly recommend Galleon Marine for the hire of a narrow boat for a weekend. Their customer service was exceptional and the initial briefing given was comprehensive with useful local knowledge of eating places, the map they have produced is brilliant. We had a range of ages on board but everyone was entertained and everyone was able to get... More

Thank you for your review, we are so glad you had a good time. Your idea about a canopy is a very good one and we have been thinking of ways to do this. When we come up with a solution I will let you know and we will post some pictures on our website. More

Stopped by during the first week of the school holidays to hire a double or two kayaks but were told they were booked for a team build any minute- no other people about. Hired a row boat as children were disappointed and didn't want the trip to be a total waste of time. Couldn't go far in the hour and... More

Galleon Marine is a good boat rental to get your choice of boat (row, canoe, kayak, motor, narrow boats etc) to get onto the basingstoke canal. The staff is friendly and the prices reasonable. The ride itself is very pleasing as the canal meanders through a lining of trees and bush on both sides. Its best to head west and... More

I visited today and took out a rowboat with a friend. The boats were a little rustic but this only added to the charm. A little pricey but probably worth it as we had a lovely time. A very enjoyable trip out on a beautifully sunny day!

We hired a row boat for 5 adults. It comes with one set of oars. After getting the hang of it eventually we had a nice row along the canal and back within the hour. Staff were friendly, plenty of picnic benches to sit at and ice creams and cold drinks served there too. For £15 an hour, it is... More

What a fun bunch, lovely to sit outside and have an ice cream after pretending to row for GB.... The staff are so friendly and helpful. It's a fun afternoon in the sun at a very reasonable price, for a rowing boat. Can't comment on the barges as didn't look at prices but have to say they do look amazing.

The best holiday we have ever had! Arthur and Karen were so welcoming and friendly with helpful tips and suggestions for a trouble free week on the canal. We loved their relaxed approach, particularly as this was our first holiday on a narrowboat. Hazel is a lovely boat and well equipped. The canal is beautiful even in the more built... More
