We went into lancaster on Easter Sunday. It was raining and it seemed only the museum, castle and eateries were open. All the staff were really friendly. My little one took part in an Easter egg hunt which she loved. The displays were informative. All in all it was worth a visit.

Small museum but interesting exhibits nonetheless. We only spent about half an hour inside. My best bit was the Victorian section but that's my favourite era anyway. Nice building.

The museum has very interesting facts on the history of Lancaster and the region, and while the information might seem a bit "cramped", it does a good job in providing an overall understanding of both, the history of England and the UK, and the region, which is why I'd recommend it to tourists, especially foreigners. Entrance is free and exhibition... More

Lots of stories about how Lancaster city was born on the 2nd floor of the museum. Also a great section about Lancastrians and their part in several different wars in the King's Own part of the museum on the 2nd floor - wonderful artefacts and stories in this section. Different exhibitions, changing every so often, can be found on the... More

The museum is sited in Lancaster's old town hall in the Market Square. Admission is free. In addition to the normal exhibits, which include Roman artefacts discovered locally, special exhibitions are held. At present there is one on a local textile business which is in a building that originally was used to build railway carriages and was used as a... More
