Manchester Cathedral has been centre stage in its city’s history for nearly 600 years. In 1421 Henry V signed a royal charter granting permission for a collegiate church to be built. In 1847 a new Manchester diocese was created and this historic church became a Cathedral. The doors are open 7 days a week and the admission is free. Do not miss one of the most interesting churches in the land at the heart of one of the most exciting cities on Earth.

Beautiful, calm cathedral. An oasis of peace near the centre of Manchester. Much larger than I expected. Well worth a look.

My husband and I visited this magnificent cathedral. So glad we didn’t miss it. Beautiful stained glass windows and angels round the ceiling. Well worth a visit. Definitely recommend it.

Visited the cathedral to see Jamie Lawson in concert there. It was an eyeopener. First off, first time I've heard a rock/concert in a cathedral. Second off, first time I've seen a bar in a cathedral and people drunk in a cathedral. And third-off, first...More

In theory this should be an excellent gig/concert venue. But in reality with all the cloisters it's difficult to get a decent view if you're not in the centre section which was very crowded.. Maybe cut the capacity ? Toilets were outside portaloos the whole...More

I visited the Cathedral recently and can say that it was an excellent experience. I visited on a Tuesday morning so, understandably, it was pretty quiet. Entry was free with a £1 charge to take photographs- although there wasn't any limit on how many/where they...More
