I don't usually review pubs but this one deserves a special mention. As a mixed group of 7 we visited the pub last Saturday afternoon, at around 1pm. One of our throng complained about a pint he was drinking. The male assistant behind the bar, noticing he'd drunk half, offered to pull him a half pint of a different beer,... More

The manager here does not know how to speak with customers. She rudely interrupted me and said that I undermined her staff even though I gave an above average tip. I have never been spoken to lik this before. Avoid and go somewhere else. The person involved will think this insignificant and carry on with regardless. An awful manager with... More

Bit of a strange thing to review. The street itself Is nothing special and one end looks nice and the other is a bit knackered looking. But there's a couple of good Pubs and some great Music venues where a lot of the best local, and non local up and coming bands play. I go there a lot for food,... More

A nice wee pub to chillax with great jukebox and a wide selection of beer. Looks like great for bands but we only stopped for a quick one. The bar staff were quick to serve and there was a great vibe in the bar.

The Castle Hotel Pub is a great Robinsons pub with about 8 handpump cask ales - half Robinsons like Unicorn and Trooper, and half guest ales... Located on Oldham Street on the edge of the Northern Quarter in a not so great area, but worth the visit... it's like stepping back in time to a pre World War Two old... More

This & other establishments in the area really are being impeccable hosts for keeping the Manchester music scene alive. There was an event upstairs going on and the level of talent was incredible. Decent prices and staff but the evening was made from the entertainment. It's been a great bank holiday weekend.

When I was a kid, this area was called Ancoats, until some marketing whiz decided to rebrand it as the Northern Quarter. The NQ has flexible boundaries, from High St up to Newton Street and Dale Street and beyond. It's full of shabby chic shops and bars, some nicer restaurants but above all has a great vibe.

A street on the border of the Northern Quarter. Nothing going for it except the Frog and Bucket at the top on Gt Ancoats street. Depressing shops with indifferent staff. Not great, never recovered from the good old days when the market was open on Tib St.

Its a little like walking into a time warp .. back to the 1930s with a mosaic tiled floor - well-worn and a lovely polished old bar with ten handpumps. Pretty small place and they do live gigs in here - no idea how they fit in. Nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Ok so I didn't even think this place would be on Trip Advisor as its basically just a street in Manchester. So briefly here's my take on it. It's a main route for the busses to travel down to enter Piccadilly, so if you're near here then you shouldn't have trouble finding a bus to take you home or wherever... More
