The centre of Manchester and usually the scene of civic events. Holds a huge number of people on these events. The site of the first Christmas markets and now well established from mid November to mid December. Good place to pick up a black cab. The road surrounding the square is one way (clockwise)

Wonderful to walk around Albert Square, see the statue of Prince Albert, Gladstone and others, and to view the lovely fountains, take time out to sit on one of the many seats watching the world go by. A great city!

Albert Square is largely bounded by fine Victorian architecture, notably, but not only, the Town Hall. There are numerous places to eat and drink (especially Veenos and Piccolino's) close by. Monuments to significant events and people in Manchester's and the nation's history give a sense of historical continuity. It is an important and impressive Manchester space.

As a tourist in the city for just a long afternoon before catching the train back to the Radisson Blu at Manchester airport we just strolled thru the central city. This really is the jewel of Manchester. It is dominated by the beautiful gothic Town Hall and surrounded by trendy bars and restraunts. The Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Fountain really is a world class monument. No wonder this is the location for the Christmas Markets and Food and Drink Festivals amongst many other things. Whats not to like?

Albert Square is probably the most central of the squares and places in Manchester. Nice view of the Town Hall, surrounded by restaurants and cafes, it is a nice place to sit for a time if the sun is out.

Albert Square is great for events that see people from Manchester gather around this amazing square, taking part in music concerts, cultural celebrations and festive moments.
