We stayed at the apartments down the street so wanted to get some breakfast before heading off to Strasbourg. The daughter wanted goat cheese as well. So we walked around and found a little cafe in the corner that for six euros you can have a coffee or hot chocolate, a croissant and baguette with jam and butter. So delish,... More

The indoor market's history is better than the market itself. Farmers and merchants arrived by boat along the canals to sell their wares at the market. Today there are several stalls and a few restaurants selling mostly foods and a few wares.

Recent weekend in Colmar to experience the Christmas markets they have on offer. Went in here a few times. Had breakfast a couple of times in the Citron and Basilic cafe, stopped at the bar on the left side of the main entrance. Owners made us very welcome and went back a few times for hot wine, Christmas beer or... More

The market is right next to little Vernice which we stopped by to just have a look. However it turned out to be our lunch place which there is many choices, from seafood to different kind of foods. We got fresh oysters there and some Vietnamese food. All are in 10E per menu and nice to enjoy.

Nice place to stop and eat something typical french (les escargots, the snails or oysters, for example) but nothing spectacular.

We visit every market on our vacations because this is a slice of local people life/habits. This indoor market was ok, we expected something more - diversity, natural authenticity, but I feel like in a usual covered city store, like an hipermarche, not a traditional/paysant/local producers market (before Colmar we was in Malta and I remember thediversity from the Marsaxlokk... Ok so it is just a typical French indoor market, which means it is absolutely fantastic. The local bakery school was showing off their skills and offering lots and lots of delicious samples to try. The Poisonier had a special of Cancale oysters ( mine and Julius Caesers favourite ) with a glass of wine. How civilised is that ?... More

The Marche Couvert was a short walk from our flat and we shopped there almost daily. The selection of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, fish, breads and pastries was terrific. It's open daily except for Mondays. Not to be missed!
