Was really looking forward to seeing this attraction but unfortunately when we got there it was closed. The website did say that it would be closed on holidays but did not say that it was also closed the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter. It indicated that they were open on Saturdays from 9-noon. After going around the hospital on... More

When you visit Cave Historique, you'll fell privileged to share the same space with the oldest cellared white wine in a barrel in the world. If you're lucky enough you might see the bottled 1472 vintage wine with your very own eyes unlucked from its bars and witness a bottling session for one of the wineries that cellar there wine... Worth finding this place, very interesting. Loved walking through the tunnel on the left as you walk in. Free to get in and €3 if you want a audio, which I would recommend as you get some really interesting facts, and not just about the wine. Wine is for sale and is very reasonably priced. Quirky and interesting.

Interesting to see the old cave and the underground cellar. Very short free tour (3 euro for audio guide). Easy way to spend an hour

The oldest barrel of wine in existence? A decent little wine shop selling wines from across France? A lovely little historical side note? This has all of these things. Some reviews say it was hard to find - if it is, then I got very lucky. Off the tram at Port d'Hopital, wander right through the main gates, and follow... More

In the grounds of the hospital is a wine cellar storing the oldest wine barrel in the world. The visit is free, or you can pay €3 for headphones to enable you to hear more about the history

History in the hospital. Beautiful wine cellar with old 15th century barrels that still contain wine. Some of their white local wines are quite good and for sale. Will go back there this year

The cellar is hidden down a stairway in the grounds of the hospital, but then you enter an interesting world of wine, old barrels and wine making equipment. Entry is free and there is audio equipment available for 3 euros to take you on your tour. Unfortunately there was no wine tasting during our visit, but the volunteers in the... More

After an unexpected driving detour from Paris to Nancy to Strasbourg my daughter got online and looked for interesting places in the area. Aside from the Alsace wines and the beautiful cobbled streets, and the great cafes this old piece of medicinal history was quite charming. And you can buy wine! There are volunteers to help you choose wine and... More

A gem of unique history in Strasbourg. Even in medieval times, the price of health care was a challenge! But lucky for us, you could pay in wine or land, and the hospital cellar still stores the oldest wine in the world from 1472. This is a small cellar where an audio tour includes only 11 stops, but every one... More
