Very impressive dual partite building right near the cathedral. It apparently was a palace, and now has the appropriately elegant facade that you want with your governmental center.

When I think about Bordeaux, this structure and area immediately comes to mind! Takes my breath away every time. The entire surrounding area is lovely, everyone comes here, sooner or later. Elegant and sophisticated, well maintained. Absolutely fabulous!

The exterior of the Bordeaux City Hall (Hotel de Ville or Palais Rohan) is extremely impressive, but it's really a centerpiece for an entire area of Bordeaux. The city hall itself dates back to the 1700s as a bishop's abode. It was destroyed during WWII and rebuilt. The square that it faces is a wonderful place to people watch and... More

This is another lovely city Hall. Built in the 18th century it used, at one time, to be the archbishop's residence. It was damaged a number of times, particularly in World War II, and has been renovated. It is worth a visit, and looks great in photos too!

Although we had way too much rain during 5 days in Bordeaux, we enjoyed the architecture, good wine and city hall. Worth a visit.

Lovely Building to look at.. good photo opportunity...but that's it really. Some nice cafes in the square so you can sit and gaze at it and the Cathedral.

We were confused when we set out to see the Hotel de Ville. There is no hotel as it has been converted to city hall. It is on a large square and there are cafes and restaurants surrounding the square. We tried to enter city hall but were no allowed.
