Charming little cinema in the heart of old Bordeaux

A rare gem in Bordeaux, and one I always show to my visits! Located in Camille Julian square, one of the most beautiful of Bordeaux and spot on the centre, it even has a quaint cafe with a great terrasse. The cinema itself is mainly an old church, so some of the rooms actually have the arches, vaults or sculptures... More

Such a lovely little treat to head off to the movies on a rainy winter afternoon. Loads of movie options. Small quirky cinemas with comfy seats in an old renovated church. Located on a lovely little square with loads of cafe, pre-movie options to complete the indulgent experience. I'd strongly recommend you add this to your Bordeaux experience if you... More

We entered this establishment which reminded me of the 1960s. This facility, an old church, has been turned into a series of small cinemas where they show really specialised films of excellent quality. Many of them are French but subtitles are available. We got hold of a brochure that told us about the hundreds of different films that appear each... More

Really quirky setting in old church in an area full of bars and restaurants. A fantastic cinema experience for real film buffs

An arty cinema in a pre-revolutionary church and nice bar/cafe with tables outside ideal for people watching.

Specialist cinema with films in VO. This was a church and still has some of the old windows. Food and drinks are served outside in a pretty square

The ugc cinecite at Gambetta is great for big budget films in English but if you need a cinema fix in bordeaux look no further than this converted church(full of religious relics) which always has a great lineup of indie films from around the world all played in their native language. Arrive early and hang out at the cafe and... More

The one-eyed Utopia is king. This centrally located movie theater is the place to see international movies in their original settings, with a generally good selection of new releases and few concessions to Hollywood. It also has a restaurant/bar with a convenient terrace on the Place Camille Jullian, few steps away from the shops overdose of rue Sainte Catherine and... More

It should be the place, though you need to be prepared to sit the rough and dirty way and don't even think about going to the toilet.. Then having said that, I wonder about the food as I didn't dare trying...

Oh how I wish there was a cinema like Utopia near me, what a marvellous place. Great city centre location, ramshackle, homely, bustling place. Terrific range of movies, great spot for a drink or a bite to eat. This place is stuffed full of character, don't miss it. Place Camille Jullian is really nice too with several terrace restaurants and... More
