Where to begin? The Basilica and its sculpture are masterpieces of Romanesque art and architecture, beyond description, which have to be experienced in the round. The village itself, up on its hilltop, exists to serve pilgrims and visitors: traffic is banned from the main street...More

Beautiful structure. A lot of history as three crusades started from this location It is not overdone on the inside. Just nice. Go to a Mass if possible or to the evening prayers.

It is quite a walk up the hill but you are then rewarded with a beautiful basilica and amazing views. The walk up the hill is equally interesting with stunning architecture and beautiful old houses. Would love to spend more time here.

Unfortunately it's at least a 7 hour drive from Cannes to Vezelay. Even going by train to Dijon and then hiring a car, it's just not possible in a day, let alone within the time you have available. If you're interested in... More

Vezelay is not easy to get to without a car, and it's a long way from Cannes. A TGV train to Dijon and then hire a car would be about the only way to do it, and even then you would spend most of the day travelling. The... More
