The Royal Chateau of Blois is your gateway into the Val de Loire. The Royal Chateau of Blois is the first important place to discover as you come from Paris. It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley chateaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many chateaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century.

Visiting any French castle is an impressive and special experience. One of the things I liked most is that this castle is located at the center of Blois, so if you are staying in this city you are very close by, you do not have...More

We went with great expectation to learn the rich history of Blois and its castle. We were given a very average light show lacking inspiration and finesse. the narrative was maybe interesting in French but was reduced to common street theater language in its English...More

The castle gives the vibe of entering a history book, or maybe a history of art book. One turns the pages with each room, each wall, each staircase. It is opulent and well preserved, easy to navigate and impressive, overall. I warmly recommend a stop...More

This is the castle where it all happened...this is where the 15th and 16th century Kings of France lived breathed and died. Bits of the Castle and rooms are truly stunning, We also did the evening lightshow which was worth it [but have a French...More

The Royal Palace at Blois is quite impressive but having visited Chambord the day before it seemed very plain in comparison. It has an impressive helix staircase but unless you are really interested in architectural history there is not a great deal to see. Apparently...More

While the outside is just nice big and impressive like most famous chateaus, here the inside is perfect. Original chambers, great and clear, perfect ! Definitely a must!

Set aside at least two hours to discover the different aspects and phases in the construction of this castle, perhaps the best place to see the different historical styles in one location. Start in the courtyard and admire before going inside the well restored rooms...More

There's plenty of history to grip you here even with the free guide - everything is well labelled and in English as well as French. The architecture is stunning, it's worth visiting just for the staircase! There's loads of detail to see here and it's...More

Our day trip to the castle was full of great views and interesting history. Our night trip to view the spectacle of lights was incredibly fascinating, and I would recommend to any French-speaking history lovers.

When we were there last week we couldn't get to Chambord but I suspect that is resolved by now. Best to check with those currently in France.
