Chambord is the emblem of the French Renaissance through Europe and the world. The Domain of Chambord is made up of the château, a village, farms and a wooded area. The domain of Chambord is completely enclosed within a wall, all 5,440 hectares of it. That’s the equivalent of the city of Paris! It is the largest enclosed forest in Europe. The entire site has been the property of the state since 1930; when the public estate was created, article 230 of the law dated 23 February 2005 stated that the possessions making up the domain were given over to it without restriction or exceptions.

Wow, is the word I would use to describe the Chateau de Chambord! This chateau initially designed by Leonardo Da Vinci and when I saw the double helix staircase in the middle of the Chateau it was extremely impressionable. The Chateau is practically empty of furniture but the architecture and shear splendor is well worth the visit! It truly is... More

It is a beautiful castle with lots to see. The self guided tour is worth the money. The castle gives you an idea of what you will find in every single castle so if you can only make one stop this is the place to go to.

The Chateaux is immense , on huge amounts of land which have been converted back into a forest reserve where wild boar and antelope roam. I found it a bit overwhelming in its immensity, however, am still very pleased to have seen it

It is one of the best castles in the loira area. It is a must. Price is between 11 ans 13 euros. Chidren under 7 are free. You have the option to rent a histopad in which the descriptions of the rooms are included. It is worthy to either use the histopad or the tourist visit with guide. If i... More

Beautiful surroundings, friendly, efficient staff, under 25's living in the EU go free, with id. This is a strange place, it's huge for a start, but once you get inside, it feels different to other big houses, as it's quite bare as a result of its history. It's amazing though, the twin staircases are a thing to behold. Unlike other... More

I loved the castle , the parks .. We didn't reserve for the equestrian show. I am not sure even it was open. You can rent a bike , electric car and boat. Good moments there.

Amazing place. Best castle we visited on our trip. Prices are ok compared to the other castles. Kids under 18 go free which was great for us (we have 3). We chose to get our 8 and 12 year old the treasure hunt booklets and they really enjoyed their visit, it was very tiring for the little one though (only... More
