Lovely place at the top of the medieval town of Loches. Great historical potential, but unfortunately poor -- and even sometimes utterly tasteless-- Xmas decorations and animations. What a pity!!

What a great experience walking around the walled city of Loches. It's a bit of a hike to the top but worth taking the time and making the effort, the reward is the most spectacular views across the country. The river running through the town is very attractive with some nice seating areas if the weather permits.

A most charming and beautiful preserved medieval city/town with all the modern amenities below the castle. Has a river and a great little bar by one of the old gatehouses next to the river. Train station for any rail travellers defenately worth a visit or even stay

We were camping near loches but it wasnt really on our list of places to visit. Popped in for a quick market shop and ended up staying all day !! Beautiful medieval town with stunning buildings and really interesting places to visit ( the keep, dungeons and royal palace) with stunning views. Great places to eat and rest to watch... More

The Royal city of Loches which includes the lodgings occupied by Henry II and his son Richard the Lionheart during the 12th Century and the Donjon provide a good two to three hours (or longer if you have time) of sightseeing. There is quite a distance between the lodgings and Donjon which is probably not an issue for the hardy... More

Loches is a chateau town about 40mins from Tours. The town is dominated by the chateau which has a great history and is well worth visiting. There is a good selection of restaurants but check opening times. The town is a good base from where you can visit other must see towns such as Chenonceau and Amboise.

We were staying in Amboise and decided to visit Loches as it was only 15 miles away. It is a very pleasant place to visit. Parking was no problem. We just ambled around but didn't go into any of the museums.

If you want to go of the beaten path, and enjoy some rest, go here. Not too many tourists, it not too commercial either, but then again: not too much to show either. The medieval city is ok, it's well preserved and clean inside the walls. It will only take you about 30 min to go through it entirely. The... More

Beautiful town with plenty of things to see. The church of St Ours, the Royal Lodge and the Dknjon all worthy of a visit. Buy your ticket from the Lodge and it gets you into the Dknjon for free
